Luke and Beth Hammond | Source: GoFundMe
A GoFundMe page created by family relative Robert Hammond states that Beth became delirious on April 28, the morning after the family arrived in Turkey from the UK. Beth’s husband, Luke, attempted to get medical help but encountered delays due to language barriers.
Luke eventually managed to arrange an ambulance, and Beth was taken to a hospital. At the hospital, Beth appeared frightened and disoriented. The GoFundMe page recounts that the children witnessed their mother being restrained and examined by unfamiliar staff, with no explanation provided.
The following day, Luke and Beth’s mother were told she had been transferred overnight due to “concerns with her heart,” though no one had informed them in advance. At the new facility, they were repeatedly denied access to see her.
Later that day, Turkish police questioned Luke at the hotel without a translator and had him sign a document in a language he didn’t understand. He later discovered it stated that Beth had died — though no one from the hospital had informed him. He was also accused of poisoning her.
Hours later, the hospital officially contacted Luke to confirm her death. By that point, a private hospital had agreed to accept Beth, but the transfer came too late.
When Beth’s body was returned to the UK, a post-mortem revealed that a part of her body had been removed without the family’s knowledge or consent. “They have invaded her body and they have TAKEN her heart,” the GoFundMe post states.
The family is now seeking answers about what happened to Beth and why.
